With the global trend towards increased online spending, the government (in Ireland) recognised the need to support small to medium size businesses to get online and so they introduced a scheme known as the 'Trading Online Voucher Scheme'.
Eligible businesses can apply for a voucher to invest in developing their e-commerce capability, of up to €2,500 matched by own funding to develop a trading online component to their business. The scheme is administered on behalf of this Department by the Local Enterprise Office network.
If you own a small business, it's crucial that you establish and develop your online presence so you can begin trading globally online. If you meet the criteria below, you could be eligible to claim up to €2,500 or 90% of expenditure to build your website.
To be eligible, your business must:
Have less than 10 employees
Turnover less than €2million
The business must be registered and trading for at least 6 months
Voucher can be used for:
Developing a new e-commerce website or update existing
Online Advertising — to create and implement online campaigns
Branding — Creating or updating your businesses online brand
Digital Training — Training to enable you to keep the website updated
Search Engine Optimisation — Making sure that your business comes up when your product of service is searched for online
