Open Days at Dundalk Institute of Technology are traditionally one of the most effective ways to attract and engage prospective students.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Open Days were no longer able to be held on-campus and so we had to move it online and create a fully digital experience. I led this project right the way from content architecture and initial sketches to design and development.
The website platform was custom-built using Webflow which enabled us to design and build the experience we wanted from scratch. The registration process was managed by Mailchimp so when users signed up they would be added to a mailing list which we then dispatched the email to on the day of the event.
We wanted to keep the open day in line with other online events and be as interactive and engaging as possible, feeling less like a microsite that mirrors the main website and more of a one-day live experience. To do this, we created a main stage for live content and a sessions area which will hold all of our pre-recorded content. Having a reduced navigation bar gave our Open Day more focus and clarity of where users can find information.
